Favorites...

These are two of my favorite poems. My grandpa read the first one at my baptism. It was his favorite too...

Ships
One ship goes east, another west,
By the self same winds that blow,
'Tis is the set of the sail, and not the gale,
That determines the way they go.

Like the winds of the sea are the ways of fate,
As we journey along through life.
'Tis the set of the soul that determines the goal
And not the calm or the strife.

The next one is a great motivator...

If you are poor, work. If you are happy, work. Idleness gives room for doubts and fears. If disappointments come - keep right on working. If sorrow overwhelms you...work. When faith falters and reason fails...just work. When dreams are shattered and hope seems dead...work. Work as if your life were in peril. It actually really is. No matter what ails - you work. Work faithfully. Work is the greatest remedy for both mental and physical afflictions.

I remember this as a poem grandpa loved. My parents gave us each a quarter to memorize it!

Sara #2 here- caught sight of your blog through Mandy's through Beth's. I think the video of your niece is awesome and she has the prettiest eyes. Anyway, thought I would say hello. Looks like things are going good for you and I'll have to keep tabs.
